Dual-screen mobile phones gone wrong (roundup)

The idea of a dual-screen smartphone is comparatively new, along with a perfect storm of two ways of thinking: if it is possible, it will and: if your are good, two are better. Well, you are able to guess how that switched out.

It is not the make an effort to enlarge the smartphone viewing space is naturally terrible it isn't. The thought of spreading the screen property without spreading the device's footprint is the type of technological envelope-pushing that may engender brainier, more effective mobile phones. It is simply the implementation that's never found its sweet place. Alas, have a look.

Samsung Continuum (Verizon) - November 2010
Samsung required its flagship Universe smartphone mold a measure further. The Continuum features a small ticker screen across which marches RSS updates, weather, and social media status updates. Kyocera Echo (Sprint) - April 2011
The thought of unfolding a dual-screen smartphone into tablet mode is high, and definitely unique. However, the phone was bulky, the seam annoying, the training curve greater than normal, and also the phone features otherwise unremarkable. The Echo offered poorly, and was wiped out off in September. Browse the full review.

You can observe the issues already: the secondary screen bifurcated the laptop keyboard into distal lobes it had been they cannot be truly helpful, and enormous enough to become annoying and ultimately, we never quite found our stride. The Doubleplay's disappointing battery existence did not help buoy its appeal.

Samsung DoubleTime (AT&T) - November 2011
Probably the most effective programs from the set, Samsung added another 3.5-inch screen within its Android smartphone. You will find no methods to understand or secondary function it is simply another screen you access by opening the telephone just like a book. Still, the additional screen-and-keyboard combo thicken the telephone, and then leave us wondering why, apart from being an expression of individuality, we'd even require the inner display. Wouldn't the telephone work equally well like a traditional slider The $50 cost is appropriate, but Android 2.2 Froyo left us cold, when almost every other new Android phones are Gingerbread-flavored, and Frozen Treats Sandwich is simply nearby.
