Ford comes out free text-to-speech Bluetooth update for SYNC

User-downloadable upgrade at Ford Sync website

Ford has launched a totally free software update because of its SYNC in-vehicle system. Version G1 V3.2.2 can give more SYNC customers a chance to have texts read aloud for them while driving with the emerging Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP). This past year, Ford recognized RIM for adopting the conventional, and known as on other producers and OS designers to do this. HTC, Samsung and LG have only lately been licensed for that MAP protocol.

Ford first integrated MAP into SYNC using its 2011 MyFord Touch-outfitted automobiles. The update will extend MAP with a 2011 and 2012 model year automobiles outfitted with first-generation SYNC systems.

Customers can determine if their vehicle is qualified for that upgrade in the Ford SYNC My Ride website.
