Multi-Player Asteroids, Sans Asteroids

MMOAsteroids: every triangular by itself

Webmonkey, together with the relaxation of Wired, ignores April Fool s day pranks. Which would be to say I do not publish about the subject, not really the great ones. But from time to time an April Fool s prank is a good example it helps make the leap from joke to real factor like MMOAsteroids.

It began having a publish on Seb Lee-Delisle s blog where he stated to possess built a Node.js-based real-time multi-player version from the classic Asteroids gaming (although with no asteroids). That switched to be an April Fool s prank, however the idea was compelling enough that presently there is indeed a real-time, multi-player Asteroids game on the internet. This is according to Doug McInnes HTML5 Asteroids and uses the as-yet-unreleased Firebase API.

I m unsure concerning the massive a part of MMOAsteroid (it seems, according to posts at Hacker News, that the overall game at random assigns gamers to various boards to prevent overwhelming the screen and which makes it unplayable), but otherwise this is pretty awesome. And highly addictive.
