Unsuccessful Paris Olympic Bid Site Now a Flourishing Success as Eco-Friendly Urban Park

Bested by London for that recognition of hosting the worldwide games, Paris has changed the would-be home of their Olympic Village within the Clichy-Batignolles area in to the lively Parc Martin Luther King. On the recent visit, the first kind site of commercial warehouses and stockyards was filled with people playing basketball and football, kids zooming up and lower skate ramps, couples relaxing on wooden patio chairs put down about the grass, and families picnicking. (Other areas from the park were nicely designated off-limits with signs that read "The grass is resting.")

Community Garden, Rainwater Recycling, And Much More
Based on the website Bonjour Paris, the park hosts 624 trees, including magnolias, cherry trees, apple trees, and dogwoods 5,600 bushes 47,000 lights and 8,400 square meters of lawn. Along with a colorful community garden of herbal treatments, veggies, and flowers is not the only real sustainable feature the park boasts:

Construction focal points include focus on carbon usage approaching zero, cell[s] and wind generators, rainwater recycling, waste management, and low-maintenance regional plants and bushes... Pathways made from reconstituted waste materials align with attractive ponds while rivulets display water fowl and seafood. Tall wispy cattail reeds succeed sometimes in hiding a few of the surrounding high-increases, thus engendering an understanding of rustic and rural.

The town intends to further develop the region to incorporate flats, work place, shops, schools, as well as an broadened metro line, based on blogger Peter's Paris, however the park, which is further enlarged, will stay a focal point from the "environmental" development consistent with Paris Mayor Bertrand Delano's goal to "stress the necessities of such a eco-friendly space is really: a large part for character in the middle of our city, one that's beautiful, fragile, and productive."
