Thanksgiving Mashed Potato Threesome

 Jerry James Stone via Flickr

Alongside Halloween, Thanksgiving is my personal favorite holiday. I really like uniting with family and buddies over good food as well as better wine. Because this recipe compliments just about any fall dish, it's perfect its the range you discover in the Thanksgiving dining room table. Chase it having a buttery Chardonnay after which hopefully some pumpkin cake.

Butternut Squash Mashed Taters

  • 1 butternut squash
  • 1 russet potato
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Garlic clove Mashed Taters

  • 1 pound of russet taters
  • 3 tbsps butter
  • 4 cloves garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 cup dairy
  • Pepper and salt to taste

Curried Mashed Taters

  • 1 pound of russet taters
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 1 small yellow onion, carefully chopped
  • 1 clove garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tbsps curry powder
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup plain low-body fat yogurt
  • Pepper and salt to taste

1. Peel the russet taters and store them in cold water. This prevents them from browning. If you like this rustic look (I actually do!) then leaves a few of the skin on.

2. Cut the taters into equal-sized pieces and put inside a large pot with only enough water to pay for the taters. Salt water and produce it to some boil.

3. Simmer the taters for around twenty minutes or until a fork placed in to the potato meets no resistance. When the potato holds towards the fork, they have to prepare longer.

4. Drain them immediately when done, arranging water for soup stalk. You may also utilize it like a vegan selection for mashing the taters.

5. You'll find instructions for roasted a butternut squash here.

6. Add the cooked butternut squash, one cooked russet potato along with a tablespoon of brown sugar to some large mixing bowl.

7. Mash until preferred consistency.

8. Mince the garlic clove and prepare it inside a skillet together with two tbsps of butter on the medium-low warmth until it might be aromatic, about ten minutes.

9. Add 1 / 2 of the cooked russet taters to some large mixing bowl together with the rest of the tablespoon of butter, the garlic clove mixture and something-half cup of dairy.

10. Mash and pepper and salt to taste.

12. Add one tablespoon water and also the curry powder, and prepare for around three minutes.

13. All of the remaining taters, the curry mixture and also the remaining elements to some large mixing bowl and mash the mix.

Like a side note, each time I type the term "mash" I recieve the song Monster Mash stuck during my mind. That consequently makes me think about Michael Jackson's Thriller and well...it simply all goes lower hill after that. Three Michael Jackson videos later, let us return to the recipe.

14. Utilizing a large glass baking dish, spread the mashed taters out into layers. I favor to achieve the butternut squash toppings on the top but proceed and select the one you want best. You've 6 different combinations to select from.

15. Enjoy!
