Based on a patent application published through the USPTO today (and initially filed last year), Apple thinks you can develop a flexible display into an iPad cover to be able to "greatly enhance" the functionality from the tablet itself. Taking energy and knowledge from the devoted connector along the side of the slate, a minumum of one segment from the title-deserving Wise Cover could be employed to augment the primary display with space for added symbols, or operate like a separate media control interface, or just display notices. Sketches collected within the gallery below also hint at while using entire inner top of the cover like a keyboard (ala Microsoft Surface) or like a drawing area. As with every patent programs, there is nothing to state this kind of idea is ever going to see Californian sunlight, but it would be crying shame whether it did not.
