Jainism: If You Do Not Take Care Of Character You Do Not Take Care Of Yourself
Jainism dates back in the earliest forms to some similar period of time because the Vedic teachings that make up the core of the items we have now call Hinduism. Just like Hinduism, it is a living link to human pre-history. Mahavira (pictured above), all of the its 24 tirthankaras (great instructors, roughly) would be a contemporary from the Buddha.
Though presently you will find roughly 4.two million enthusiasts of Jainism on the planet, the huge most of whom reside in India, the influence of of Jainism alternatively indigenous religions of South Asia as well as on society there more broadly is a lot more than individuals few fans might indicate.
It's in Jainism that the idea of ahimsa (non-violence), being an absolute a minimum of, originates. Mahavira, all of the the tirthankaras pointed out above, stated "You're what you want to harm."
Notoriously, Jain monastics (both men and women) take this to this type of deep conclusion they frequently put on cloth masks over their mouths to prevent accidentally drawing in bugs they lightly sweep the floor before them because they walk to prevent walking on bugs they merely travel by feet as other travel techniques almost always accidentally kill other styles of existence similar injunctions in the areas of existence also exist.
Jain homeowners take notice of the principle of ahimsa to less extreme, and several would say more practical, levels, but nonetheless Jainism may be the only belief where vegetarianism is definitely an absolute.
Further Jain concepts having a decidedly professional-environment bent include practicing empathy towards all existence realizing that, because the Alliance of Religions and Conservation puts it, "all character is bound together...if you don't take care of character you don't take care of yourself" and practicing a large amount of self-restraint when it comes to resource consumption.
Indeed it's from Jainism that Mahatma Gandhi, though themself a Hindu, derived much relation to his interpretation of non-violence and derived has become oft-cited, if oft-modified, maxim, "There's enough nowadays for human needs, although not for human wants."
Greater number of these concepts are layed out within the Jain Belief Statement from Assisi in 1986.
