NCBI ROFL: Bicyclist?s vulva: observational study. Discoblog

Many chronic injuries associated with sports cycling are actually recognised: cyclist s hard nips,1 neuropathic syndromes,2 and skin problems triggered through the saddle. We view a brand new clinical condition in female higher level cycling rivals: bicyclist s vulva. Six women, aged 21-38 years, were built with a unilateral chronic swelling from the labium majus following a couple of many years of intensive cycling (typically 462.5 km each week). All six had typical unilateral lymphoedema (five about the right side, one about the left) that was worse after more intense and longer training. The positioning of the bicycle saddle, the kind of shorts worn, and also the women s perineal hygiene were optimum. There is no genealogy of lymphoedema most of the women, nor any common component that might explain the lymphoedema.
