I believe if futurists in the '50s saw the way in which things switched in 2012 speaking purely when it comes to innovation they would not be too mad. But there's an area where we truly unsuccessful them: flying cars.
You will find couple of retro images for the future that spring to mind a lot more than the flying vehicle. Think about the Jetsons! (Shit, now I wish to go watch the Jetsons...) But, here i am, battling with hrs of gridlock every single day simply to go back home from work. Sure, some have attempted the flying vehicle, but you will find a lot of walls and red-colored flags between that technology and also the public, that after it will really happen, we'll most likely be teleporting towards the store already.
