Upstart digital cinema company Red-colored, that has been the bane of numerous established camera companies for quite some time now, has sued against Arri, a number one camera manufacturer. They allege that Arri employed one Michael Bravin, an old worker of camera package maker Band Professional, who compromised the e-mail account of his former worker and stole private information relevant to Red-colored and astroturfed for Arri around the official forums as well. Additionally they take exception with a claims Arri produced in advertising disparaging Red-colored s cameras.
Read the specifics below in the courtroom filing, however the gist is the fact that Bravin constantly utilized the e-mail of Amnon Band, founding father of Band Professional, and was conscious of acquisition talks in '09 and 2010. He was hired by Arri this year and allegedly provided them particulars of economic and R&D at Red-colored. Younger crowd published on RedUser about how exactly great Arri s new camera, the Alexa, is. There s no doubt it s an excellent camera but he published within fake title, and there have been other conditions. This is questionably legal (and questionably illegal), but they're taking him to task for this anyway.
Red-colored also states Arri made some claims in advertising regarding how their camera, sensor, and format were better than others. Again, generally what advertising is perfect for but there's some untruth included there, apparently. I love this little zinger:
In advertising particularly focusing on Red-colored clients, ARRI identifies films which have been shot around the Alexa. Amongst others, it lists the film I Personally Don't Like You, Father. In fact, this movie was shot on Red-colored.
Burn! Who doesn t just like a little camera drama
Red-colored is looking to get unspecified damages, but when the accusations turn to be true, spending some money will be the least of Arri s worries. Photography enthusiasts and cinematographers are extremely brand-loyal generally, but when they do not feel they are able to trust that brand, they ll leave like rats from the sinking ship. No indication of once the trial is going to be.
