Report: FBI developing new cyber intelligence research unit, concentrate on digital surveillance

FBI forming new cyber intelligence unit to innovate digital surveillance

Based on a study filed by technology site CNET, the united states Fbi (FBI) is developing a brand new cyber intelligence and research unit named the Domestic Communications Assistance Center (DCAC). The briefing states the DCAC's purpose is going to be "to invent technology which will let police more readily eavesdrop on the internet and wireless communications" (initially concentrating on Voice over internet protocol services, internet sites, and wireless communication mediums) . Using a prepared statement, the FBI described the unit's modus operandi is to "assist federal, condition and native police force with electronic surveillance abilities." Congress has appropriated over $54 million for "authorized electronic surveillance" in fiscal year 2012 the DCAC continues to be reserved just north of $8 million from that cake.
