Yesteryear 5 years have certainly been an eventful here we are at the CRTC -- with broadband controversies and foreign possession issues garnering lots of head lines, to title just two good examples -- and now that we know who definitely are leading the Canadian regulating agency for the following five. The Best Minister's Office introduced today it has hired longtime civil servant Jean-Pierre Blais as Chairperson, together with his five-year term set to start on June 18th. Blais comes mainly from the legal background, and it has formerly held positions at Canada's Treasury Board, the Department of Canadian Heritage, and also the CRTC itself -- which Pm Harper states makes him "well qualified" to do the job, and provides him a "comprehensive knowledge of the broadcasting and telecommunications industries and also the role from the CRTC." He replaces Konrad von Finckenstein, who's term led to The month of january, after which the federal government indicated he wouldn't be reappointed for any second term.
