The rainbow chairs, miniature heat balloons and day care at yesterday's Reading through Rainbow press event were a welcome vary from the conventional mood lighting and Adele tunes that set the scene for many tech launches nowadays. Obviously, this wasn't just any press event -- it was Reading through Rainbow, the eagerly anticipated return from the beloved children's program cancelled by PBS in 2009 following a 26 year run. Host LeVar Burton was clearly emotional as he go to the stage, dabbing tears before talking about the 2-year journey that culminates today using the discharge of the Reading through Rainbow iPad Application.
Burton gave a fast demo from the application on stage (together with a little technical hiccup, inducing the sly TNG jerk, "I am no engineer, I simply utilize one on tvInch), after a short, misty-eyed rendition from the Reading through Rainbow theme song by its original singer, Tina Fabrique, the walls behind us opened up as much as reveal several kids located on beanbag chairs around a table, putting the application through its paces. We handled to obtain some hands-promptly by using it, without needing to elbow any young children along the way (not too we were not prepared to do what it really required to obtain the story). Take a look at some impressions and video following the break.
