Parrot uncovers Asteroid Wise, Tablet and Small vehicle infotainment systems, we go hands-on

Parrot unveils Asteroid Smart, Tablet and Mini car infotainment systems, we go handson

We first laid eyes on Parrot's first Android-based Asteroid vehicle infotainment system a few years back at CES. Then, only at that past year's show, we've got a sneak look in a trio of successor Asteroid products. Now, only 10 several weeks later, the Asteroid Wise, Tablet and Small have recently showed up in consumer-ready garb. First, there is a flagship in-dash system, the double-DIN Asteroid Wise. It provides a 6.2-inch 800 x 480 capacitive display, a Texas Instruments 800MHz processor and runs a heavily skinned form of Android 2.3. The Wise also offers four USB 2. ports (the one that pushes 5V to charge an ipod device) for hooking up exterior products such as the incorporated Gps navigation antenna or perhaps a dongle for cellular data. Plus, you will find 3.5mm line-in and microphone jacks to choose a number of RCA connections along with a micro-USB port across the back. Bluetooth 3. is baked in, as well as an Sdcard slot sits behind the removable security strip left from the screen.

The Smart's brothers and sisters, the Asteroid Small and Asteroid Tablet will also be visiting The United States this month. Named packs similar specs because the Wise, only it's a 5-inch capacitive screen and it is portable, instead of an in-dash solution. It runs exactly the same skinned form of Gingerbread, has Gps navigation and Bluetooth radios, and packs 512MB of RAM and 1GB of on-board storage, along with an SD slot. Additionally, it has a wireless touch pad remote so that you can control the machine completely from your controls. Meanwhile, the Small, using its 3.2-inch, non-touchscreen includes a similar form step to named and has a wireless remote too. However, its OS is made on Android 1.5 also it relies on an exterior Gps navigation antenna like its bigger, double-DIN cousin. The Asteroid Tablet will retail for $399, and also the Small will definitely cost 100 dollars less once they continue purchase inside a couple of days.

We've got to swipe our way round the Parrot Wise, so come along following the break to determine it for action.
