Hitachi Touro portable drive review: More sex appeal than capacity

The Hitachi Touro Mobile Pro external hard drive looks very much like an extra-large iPhone 4.

Capping just 750GB, the Hitachi Touro Mobile Professional portable hard disk is quite disappointing when it comes to space for storage when in comparison using the 1.5TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable. But what it really lacks in capacity, it a lot more than comprises in sexiness. The attention-catching portable drive looks greatly as an apple iphone 4 with black bottom and top and aluminum in the edges.

Being an exterior hard disk, the Touro features USB 3. and it is backward-suitable for USB 2.. Inside, it's with different 2.5-inch internal hard disk that spins at 7,200rpm (instead of the five,400rpm on most drives) and offered excellent performance in CNET Labs' testing.

The Touro Hitachi includes bundled up backup software known as Hitachi Backup that actually works with both Apple computers and Computers. The program facilitates copying both towards the drive and also to Hitachi's online backup service. Buying the drives will get you 3GB free of charge.

At its street cost close to $95 for that 750GB version (or $75 for that 500GB version), the drive can make an excellent companion for individuals who travel having a laptop, especially one that is USB 3.-ready.
