Toyota needs the plug-in Prius to market for $3,000 to $5,000 greater than a standard version, which begins at $23,520, stated Jana Hartline, a business speaker.The vehicle should be eligible for a a federal tax credit with a minimum of $2,500, Hartline stated. While Toyota has not begun a marketing campaign for that plug-in, 29,000 potential clients have "pre- registered" to purchase one about the company's website, she stated.
In California, the plug-in Prius also needs to be eligible for a a $1,500 rebate and become permitted to make use of carpool lanes despite a solo driver, stated Mike Ferry, program manager for that state's Center for Sustainable Energy, which distributes the obligations.
