AT&ampT to start unleashing off-contract apple iphones this Sunday, April eighth (update)

AT&ampT to begin unlocking off-contract iPhones this Sunday, April 8th
We have got word of the spicy strategy change, to become passed this Sunday, that's certain to please the AT&T apple iphone-loving public. On Easter time, choose Ma' Bell clients with apple iphones -- individuals off-contract with accounts up to date -- will have the ability to request a company unlock for his or her device. Once freed, any micro-SIM may be used -- provided its carrier's wavelengths are supported -- through the smartphone. An AT&T representative could make sure "an insurance policy change concerning apple iphones" would indeed be folded-on Sunday, but rejected to elaborate further. That seem you hear Worldwide Love, being silently spun in the corner office of Rob p la Vega.

[Thanks, John Crawford]

Here's AT&T's official statement around the matter:

Beginning Sunday, April 8, we'll offer being approved clients a chance to unlock their AT&T apple iphones. The only real needs are that the customer's account should be up to date, their device can't be connected having a current and active term commitment with an AT&T customer account, and they have to have satisfied their contract term, upgraded under our upgrade guidelines or compensated an earlier termination fee.
