The Naval Research Laboratory opened up the doorways from the massive facility as much as people from the media today, and Engadget was on-hands together with an average sized gathering of fellow reporters. Incorporated within the tour were two simulated conditions. Tropical High Bay is made to mimic jungle terrain, with water, fog and climate controlled temperature and humidity. The Desert High Bay is a little let complex in the environment simulation, restricted to a sand pit, rock way, and adjustable light, smoke and wind.
Meanwhile, an on-site indoor pool can be used to challenge marine automobiles. Testers shown the Pectoral Fin Swimmer - an autonomous bot inspired through the biological actions of seafood, to be able to access areas not arrived at by classical propel driven robots. Also available was Lucas, a Mobile, Dexterous, Social (MDS) humanoid robot [pictured above] having a Segway base. The laboratory shown the way the robot was able to reasoning inside a simulated firefighting scenario - and, outfitted by having an extinguisher, was able to creating a really real fire on the ground from the facility.
We'll possess a more in-depth tour from the facility soon. Meanwhile, search for a sneak-look of the items we had within the gallery below.
