AMD's Hondo tablet chip will happily run Windows 8 and Linux, but not Android

Present day business jargon jewel: TAM, Total Addressable Market. AMD feels that Home windows 8 comes with lots of the stuff, therefore it sees no commercial desire to make its forthcoming tablet nick -- codenamed Hondo -- play nice with Android too. Talking with The Inquirer, corporate Vice president Steve Belt stated it had been a "conscious decision" to not pursue compatibility with Google's OS, because AMD does not wish to spread itself into "other marketplaces." What could this suggest for all of us tablet-purchasers No dual-startup Home windows / Android miracle on AMD products, to begin with, that is possibly unfortunate since ASUS has proven from the combo's potential. However, Belt managed to get obvious that Hondo will support Linux, which -- for the time being, a minimum of -- is much more than could be stated of Intel's rival low-energy plastic, Clover Trail.
