Google told Wired it's researching intends to make use of the +1 button like a crowdsourcing tool to regulate search engine results and fight web junk e-mail.
Google lately broadened the forces from the +1 button to incorporate their new Google+ social media service. Click +1 button on the site, or perhaps in search engine results, and you are Google+ +1 feed is up-to-date using the site. It's much like Facebook's Like button.
Obviously, should you remember Digg in the heyday, you know how rapidly this kind of system could be "gamed" to push articles up of search engine results above more relevant content. Google reiterated to Wired that "You will find a lot more than 200 signals that people use to look for the rank of the website, and this past year we made a lot more than 500 enhancements towards the formula."
Still that leaves Google within an odd situation. They would like to take advantage of the +1 button to advertise their new social media service and connect search engine results, but they need to make certain they do not piss from the justice Department with what is interpreted as Google having its internet search engine to squash rival Facebook. Plus, the entire system could backfire in it and rather than fixing search junk e-mail, it might worsen it. [Wired]
