Eye-Fi Boss jams SD Association's strangely similar Wireless Sdcard standard, states his IP has been violated

Yuval Koren isn't pleased. For individuals not aware, he's the Boss of Eye-Fi, the organization which has practically written the guidelines on embedding Wi-fi compatability into SD cards. Should you blinked a week ago, you most likely skipped the SD Association's announcement it had produced a brand new Wireless LAN SD standard that will effectively give nearly anybody a chance to add Eye-Fi capabilities for their SD cards. Because it works out, Eye-Fi's none too pleased about this, and Koren went to date regarding openly admit the standard is seriously infringing upon highly valuable Eye-Fi technology. To quote: "As [the SDA's standard is] presently written, essential Eye-Fi patented technology could be violated by anybody applying this draft specs." Bold.

He continues to describe that his company has invested "hundreds of huge amount of money and many years to produce unique technology that allows people easily transfer pics and vids from their camera and mobile products," and calls the SDA protocol "plain misrepresentation." He's effectively with the SD Association either to pony up and license Eye-Fi's tech, or scrap the "standard" and rewrite it using another thing altogether. The entire letter is published up following the break, with simply no elation found.
