One of the most fascinating meta-characteristics from the intertubez is when this is opened up up a lot of sub-cultures to individuals who does otherwise have no clue they exist. Sure, everyone knows about Trekkers and Whovians and Steampunkers, but before creation of Twitter, Facebook and also the other social nets I wasn't conscious of the recognition of crafters: individuals who make things. I am talking about individuals who knit, do papercraft, create clothes, and so forth.
Without a doubt, I understood it had been an enjoyable hobby and all sorts of that things i didn t know is when devoted some people will be to it. This is pretty awesome they create cozies, socks, hats, skirts, dresses, knit tops this is amazing. Not to mention, this being the net and all sorts of, many of these people are also space/math/science/scifi brainiacs. Still I never, ever, ever would ve predicted this. I give the Vitruvian Dalek:

EXTERMIKNIT!*
Spoonflower, the website that hosts this pattern, has a lot of other nerdy ones, like math equations, a photo voltaic system diagram, as well as the odd Ood or two.
Winter s coming I possibly could make use of a quilt. Err.
Tip o the sewing needle to Mary Firestone.
* I understand, this is not knitting, and that i used that joke once before. However it s still funny.
