Yes, the earth's helium supply is gradually drained, so that as sad as it will likely be to determine 1000's of tear-stained cheekbones of balloonless birthday boys and women, the military has already been feeling the sting.
The military continues to be on the blimp bender recently. They are able to remain in the environment more than any drone (by days) and haul a lot more gear. There has been three airship surges since last fall, because these automobiles have grown to be the military's favorite surveillance tool in Afghanistan, where several dozen happen to be used. The military was already battling to consume enough gas to fill individuals ships, but situations are going to get started up a notch.
The coming year the military is thinking about delivering two ginormous blimps to Afghanistan. We are speaking more than a football area and taller than the usual seven-story building. That duckie needs 800,000 cubit ft of helium to really make it float. Once the military released an order, none of the providers could handle it, and also the order needed to be split up into more compact pieces. Using the military already likely to use increasingly more (and much more biggerer) aerostats (this is the broad family reputation for airships, balloons, and blimps) between now and 2017, things might get very tricky, and incredibly costly, soon.
