Cinq Brings an additional Screen to Laptops for $249

Once you have a dual-monitor setup at the desk, it's difficult to return to single-screen computing. Quite simply, utilizing a laptop, using its one measly screen, stinks.

Fortunately, Sideline is around the situation using its Cinq companion monitor, a transportable secondary screen that clips to the laptop and operates on USB energy, using DisplayLink. Although it isn't the very first USB-powered screen available on the market, it's the first I have seen that attaches towards the laptop itself by some rails along with a clamp. Once attached, the Cinq can swivel around and switch between vertical and horizontal orientation.

As Cinq's product photos demonstrate, it's ideal for relaxing barefoot at the lake inside your slacks and tie, convincing yourself and everyone around you that you are getting real work done:

Or impressing all of the ladies in the airport terminal lounge--until they realize you are just putting things off on Tweetdeck:

The Cinq's Brought-backlit screen measures 10.1 inches with 720p resolution, and weighs in at 15 oz .. It features a response duration of 16 ms, and viewing angles of 45 levels on each side. The Cinq software works with Home windows and Mac, also it features a built-in Sdcard readers, just just in case your laptop does not have one for whatever reason.

One factor Sideline is not speaking about may be the screen's impact on your computer's battery existence. Clearly, it'll vary by laptop, try not to be prepared to get just as much juice while you did with no second screen with you.

Although Cinq's product page still states its in pre-order, Slashgear reviews the Cinq has become shipping. I have e-mailed Cinq support to obtain a firm answer. (UPDATE:Ben Nickey, Sideline's Boss, told Techland the Cinq is going to be shipping in roughly three days. For battery existence, he stated his Mac laptop Professional went for around four hrs with one Cinq attached, contributing to 2.5 hrs with two extra screens, in comparison to around six hrs without one. Video along with other energy-intensive tasks will drain battery faster.)
