Ah, robotics. Whether it were only more sexy. That s virtually the greatest hurdle of the exciting industry. You may think otherwise, however, and declare that a completely functional AI may be the large challenge facing primitive robot kind at its current condition. Fine, that s valid too. However ,, a great dose of appearance is going into robot manufacturing. At their finest, most somewhat autonomous robots seem like cumbersome home appliances circa the Jetsons. Ugh!

Anyway, lengthy story short a lab in the U of Pennsylvania are testing modular robotics. This is a brand new branch of general robotics and aims to permit average robots some procreative forces. By procreative is intended a chance to create offspring from foam.
That s right. At its present condition FoamBot is a nice crude invention that s essentially a box of insulation foam on the wheeled chassis. What causes it to be special is its programming. FoamBot is capale of building other robots ut of foam. Sicne they re amd eof foam, the researcher testing them think they re more modular.
Right now, however, FoamBot and it is kids all look ugly, just globs of foam not capable of complex tasks. Well i guess, this program continues to be in the infancy.
