Google News Archive project abandoned

Google News Archive

Now everyone knows that Google has already established its great amount of failure and achievements, and never exactly what it touches turns to gold. Sometimes projects just do not exercise like that they intended. The most recent one to find the ax is Google s newspaper archive service.

Began 5 years ago, Google s plan was to achieve the world s major newspapers and magazines electronically aged to ensure they are easily searchable. And today, five years later, and after over 2,000 guides from dating back to two centuries ago, Google has made the decision to provide on the project. Pointless was handed to why Google stopped the project, but you will find speculations about copyright issues. Personally I've found the entire task very daunting also it would require very devoted people to handle.

No matter what are the reasons are, Google continues to be kind enough to maintain the archive online all of the scanned pages from individuals five years it's still open to the general public but forget about content will be included to it. Bing is now shifting its focus to helping newspapers earn money from their online presence with Google s One Pass System.
