Mozilla Thinking about Shortening Their Release Cycle Even Further

Captured using the launch of their then new Opera 5 browser Mozilla began to implement their newaccelerated release formatwhich was introduced in March.

Reportsare now circulating that Mozilla may be searching to lower their current six week cycle lower for an even short 5 week format. But there's concernamongstMozilla s designers the even shorter lead occasions could potentially cause burnout inside the team.

Mozilla software engineer Josh Aasexplains:

Our transition to delivering every six days went very well, - We re getting fixes to customers a lot more rapidly than we accustomed to, but could we obtain fixes to customers even faster Moving to some five week cycle means a fix starting mozilla-central would reach customers three days faster.

There's already concern within companies concerning the current release schedule and compatibility soreducingeven further is probably not something Mozilla will adopt very rapidly.
