When Pooping Babies Be Appealing: The Results of Nonconscious Goal Pursuit on Experienced Feelings.
Within this report, we reason that the concentration of the feelings people experience is partially based on the goals they nonconsciously pursue, which this effect is functional in character: Feelings are modulated with techniques that could raise the possibility of goal achievement. To check this hypothesis, we primed female participants having a motherhood goal after which measured their degree of disgust in reaction to mildly disgusting pictures. Priming brought to some decrease in disgust in reaction to goal-relevant stimuli (e.g., pictures of babies with runny noses) although not goal-irrelevant stimuli. This effect was moderated through the women s possibility of conception, a proxy of the capability to pursue the motherhood goal.
